A numerical simulation of pre-big bang cosmology
We analyse numerically the onset of pre-big bang inflation in an inhomogeneous, spherically symmetric Universe. Adding a small dilatonic perturbation to a trivial (Milne) background, we find that suitable regions of space undergo dilaton-driven inflation and quickly become spatially flat (Ω → 1). Numerical calculations are pushed close enough to the big bang singularity to allow cross checks ag...
متن کاملNumerical Study of Inhomogeneous Pre-Big-Bang Inflationary Cosmology
We study numerically the inhomogeneous pre-big-bang inflation in a spherically symmetric space-time. We find that a large initial inhomogeneity suppresses the onset of the pre-big-bang inflation. We also find that even if the pre-big-bang inflationary stage is realized, the initial inhomogeneities are not homogenized. Namely, during the pre-big-bang inflation “hairs”(irregularities) do not fall...
متن کاملSome Aspects of Pre Big Bang Cosmology
This is a summary of a course given at the Fourth Mexican School on Gravitation and Mathematical Physics on some aspects of PBB cosmology. After introductory remarks the lectures concentrate on some amusing consequences derived from the symmetries of the string theory with respect to such classical concepts as isotropy and homogeneity. The extra dimensions and the symmetries of the M theory are...
متن کاملPre - Big - Bang In String Cosmology
The duality-type symmetries of string cosmology naturally lead us to expect a pre-big-bang phase of accelerated evolution as the dual counterpart of the decelerating expansion era of standard cosmology. Several properties of this scenario are discussed, including the possibility that it avoids the initial singularity and that it provides a large amount of inflation. We also discuss how possible...
متن کاملInhomogeneous Pre-Big Bang String Cosmology
An inhomogeneous version of pre–Big Bang cosmology emerges, within string theory, from quite generic initial conditions, provided they lie deeply inside the weak-coupling, lowcurvature regime. Large-scale homogeneity, flatness, and isotropy appear naturally as latetime outcomes of such an evolution. CERN-TH/97-42 March 1997
